Palakkadan Matta Rice

Kerala Red Rice or Matta Rice is also known by the name Rosematta Rice. Since it was cultivated in the Palakkad region of Kerala, it called by the name Palakkadan Matta Rice. These rice can be taken as plain rice or be used in the making of appams, idlis and various snacks like kondattam and murukku. The use of Matta rice or Kerala Red Rice has certain health benefits over other available rice varieties. It is believed to have more nutritional content when compared to normal white rice. Matta rice is rich in Magnesium, and calcium, also source of vitamin A and B. The Rice Comes in Raw, Half boiled and Parboiled. The Half Boiled Rice can be used for making Soft idly and Crispy Dosa. Tips : Soak the rice Minimum 3 hrs or over night for quick cooking. STORAGE : Store in a cool and dry place, keep away from direct sunlight.
